Rangers gobble up victories over Thanksgiving weekend
Unfortunately, the Rangers lost the coin toss and Normandy advanced to the championship game where they were defeated by North Olmsted 9-2.
With the weekend performances, Lakewood’s season record now stands at 4-0 with a 1-0 conference mark.
This weekend, the Rangers get right back into GCHSHL divisional play with a pair of conference games. On Friday night, Lakewood will travel to the Pond for an 8:40 tilt against Chagrin Falls. Then, on Saturday night, Lakewood returns home for a 7pm faceoff hosting the Twinsburg Tigers.

Practice Begins and a Change to Blue North Conference
The Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League today voted to allow Normandy to move back down into the Blue North division to take the place of Brecksville Broadview Heights who suspended their program last week. This change will cause several schedule changes to be made to the Rangers season schedule. Those changes will be posted as soon as the changes are made.
This morning the Rangers began practice for the 2019-2020 season. 18 skaters (the most in many season) suited up for the first workout. The Rangers will continue their efforts this week before facing an opponent the first time on Saturday when they travel to Mentor’s Ice Arena for a 6pm exhibition game against Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin.
The Rangers will be home the following Saturday when they host North Olmsted in a 7pm exhibition contest.
Rangers ready for start of Pre-season
The 2019-2020 Lakewood Rangers are making final preparations for the start of the season. Regular season Practices begin in November as the team looks to better its’ 4th place finish from one year ago.
Senior Goaltender Rob Holden, Senior forward Will Holden and Junior defenseman Alex Blinky have been chosen as captains for the 2019-2020 season and the experienced trio leads one of the most talented squads that Lakewood has put on the ice in recent years. The team will once again be skating in the Blue North division of the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League , led by 5th year Head Coach Mark Ferfolia and once again assisted by Fred Krause and Tony Chiaravalle..
Beyond its’ league schedule, the team will be participating in several tournaments during the year including the Normandy Thanksgiving tournament to open up the campaign. The division schedule is having to undergo a slight retooling as divisional rival Brecksville-Broadview Heights suspended their team operations this week for the 19-20 season.
The Rangers open up their pre-season schedule on Saturday November 9th as they will travel to Mentors Ice Arena to square off against the Note Dame Cathedral Latin Lions in a 6pm contest. That will be followed by Pre-season scrimmages against North Olmsted , Normandy and Brush.
The first opportunity for local fans to see the Rangers in action will be on Saturday November 16th at 7pm when they host the North Olmsted Eagles. The puck will drop at 7pm at Serpentini Ice Arena in that game.
